Caroline's
highly-acclaimed book, 'To the Pole' published by Virgin (click here
for more infomation), describes the adventure. The team started from the
edge of Antarctica and, over the next sixty days, they made their way through
some of the most extreme conditions on Earth. It was 700 miles, and a gradual
climb to 9,000 feet, battling through temperatures as low as minus 35 degrees
Celsius and hauling sledges more than the women's own body weight. They
could move only at the speed of the slowest person and it was vital that
they worked together to achieve their goal. (Click here
to visit the expedition web site).
On January 24th 2000, the team reached the South Pole and made history by becoming the first British all-women team to ski to the South Pole.
